Wiluam E. Aytoun was born in 1829 in County Kilkenny, Ireland. He came to the United States in 1849 and settled at "The Rocks," in the town of Adams, Tennessee. He prepared for the ministry, but was directed by God into other fields
He became a teacher, then a physician. In the year 1869 he became pastor of the Baptist church in Union City, Tennessee. This position he held for almost thirty years, when he died on January 13th, 1896.
He was dedicated to Christian ideals and was a great believer in education.
